Transportation Cabinet crews
working to combat ice
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) crews
are working to combat a band of winter precipitation that is crossing
the commonwealth today. Crews are actively treating roads in the
western two-thirds of the state and are on alert or pretreating
roads in the eastern portions of Kentucky.
KYTC crews have been pretreating roads over much of
Kentucky since Tuesday in anticipation of this weather maker.
“The Transportation Cabinet is working to minimize
the impact of today’s weather as much as possible,” said
Transportation Secretary Joe Prather. “We encourage residents
in the affected areas to limit travel as much as possible and exercise
caution at all times as our crews work to keep roads clear.”
Residents should stay tuned to local media for the latest
roadway and weather information. Statewide traffic and weather information
is also available at www.511.ky.gov.
